David Hockney, Cecil Beaton, 1970, ink on paper, 14 x 17"
We were saddened to hear the news this morning of the passing of Dr. Edmund "Ted" Pillsbury. Ted shared his passion for art though his leadership at the Kimbell, Pillsbury & Peters, the Meadows and Heritage Auctions. Barry remembers hearing him give a talk in which he shared a story about his first personal acquisition, a David Hockney drawing at the young age of 19. Ted's Saturday afternoon visits to the gallery via his motorcycle always provided intriguing commentary with historical prospective. He will be remembered for personal stories like these, as well as for his many contributions to the North Texas art community.
