A wonderful review was recently published of Johnnie Winona Ross' recent exhibition at James Kelly Contemporary in Santa Fe. Barry Whistler drove out to Santa Fe for the opening reception in May and was hugely impressed by the new work, of course. We are looking forward to a Johnnie Winona Ross show of our own sometime early next season. The image posted here is an oldie but goodie.

Bob entertained a large group of students this morning with a lively discussion about the making of and idea behind his bomb. It has been wonderful having him in town for the first part of his show. Come see the show before he goes back to L.A. on Sunday. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for the closing party at the end of July for your spirited dialog with the artist.

Bob Wilhite is on his way to Dallas from Los Angeles with a full size interpretation of the Fat Man nuclear bomb that was detonated over Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. The sculpture, measuring 5' x 11', takes artistic license on a highly recognizable, iconic image and is intended to create a dialog about our current political climate and the ominous and dark reality of nuclear weapons. The bomb will be featured in our upcoming exhibition which opens Friday, June 13th. Photos taken by Barry Whistler at Wilhite's studio in Los Angeles, June 2008.
